We selected five vendors to send RFPs, then settled on three for further evaluation; Standard Register, PatientWorks and Moore/Wallace. We quickly recognized that we could not move forward with a vendor who did not offer HL7 interfacing and "scheduled print" functionality (so we could schedule print jobs at future dates). Standard Register and Moore/Wallace had neither but PatientWorks had both. Another feature we discovered in PatientWorks that we now couldn't live without, is separation of applications by facility - we have four different hospitals in the system and this feature allows us to quickly isolate and search forms by facility; a necessity for multiple hospital systems each with their own different, voluminous set of forms.
PatientWorks accomplished every one of our intended goals. For example, from an efficiency and cost savings standpoint, chart creation used to take fifteen minutes per patient, now it takes literally a few seconds.
We found all their people to be great to work with and very responsive from sales to implementation to on-going support. Our group and their group truly formed a productive team where there was never any finger pointing; best implementation ever - a wonderful experience. Plus their turn-around time on requests has been absolutely fabulous!
