CarolinaEast Health Systems Goes Live With PatientWorks 4

April 29 09:00 AM

Effective April 28th, 2010, CarolinaEast Medical Center went live with PatientWorks 4. CarolinaEast is taking advantage of PatientWorks' Signature and Photo capture features to send electronic copies of signed consents directly to its their imaging system. At the time of registration PatientWorks presents the appropriate documents for the particular registration; the patient reads and sign as required. A photo is also taken of the patient and merged on to selected documents by PatientWorks. PatientWorks automatically sends an electronic copy of the signed documents to ChartMaxx (the imaging system) for storage and prints out a hard copy to be sent with the patient. Registrars were catching on to the new process within the first hour of their shift!

CarolinaEast Medical Center is a 300 bed facility located in New Bern, North Carolina.

PatientWorks® provides a family of software that enables Healthcare Facilities to build print, merge and form-fill applications that combine data from the Hospital Information Systems (HIS) with user defined forms to produce automated and on-demand laser, fax, electronic or email (PGP Encrypted) output.

With our PatientWorks 4 release, we introduce KioskWorks, our full-featured kiosk for appointment check-ins, wayfinding, staff directories, and almost anything else you can think of. This was our first foray into Microsoft’s new WPF and it’s been an interesting learning experience. WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation) is a whole new method for doing window layout and design. The ease with which it lets us attractively reskin windows and controls is impressive and exciting. We’re looking forward to what we can do with it in the future.
